22 Sep Bottega Veneta new standard of luxury
Bottega Veneta is an Italian luxury fashion brand – famous for its discretion, quality, and craftsmanship – which was founded in Vicenza in 1966. This week I had the chance for a private preview of the F/W’16 collection in their store which ended up to be a discovery of the Bottega Veneta world and the new luxury standard it has created all these years.
What surprised me pleasantly was the no logo mentality which the brand adopted in 2001 when Tomas Maier was appointed as creative director with the motto “When your own initials are enough” (before that milestone brand’s logo was the butterfly). He wanted to convey a concept of individuality and craftsmanship highlight, since the brand’s criss-cross weaving technique called intrecciato meant to be a trademark. Under Maier’s direction, the fashion house ‘je ne sais quoi’ philosophy which emerged was based on 4 cornerstones: outstanding craftsmanship, timeless yet innovative design, contemporary functionality and the highest quality materials.
Let’s enter Bottega Veneta special world. Each season the house adopts trends but in its own unique way and transforms them in timeless style. For F/W16 the bags in the house’s coveted shapes dive into an alluring color palette of pink, purple and Peacock blue, as well as metallics to compliment all attires of the season. Precious leathers (such as crocodile) or techniques (such as embroidery) meet the house’s meticulous craftsmanship to add a polished, delicate edge to its iconic pieces. Entirely hand-crafted totes by trained artisans in limited pieces each season are what we call everyday luxury.
This time I had the chance to preview exclusively an extraordinary piece – more precious than jewelry – the famous Knot clutch in a 24K gold edition with diamonds handcrafted with the same technique!!! It is the 4th piece made since the house foundation and it is sold exclusively in the Bottega Veneta store in Dubai Mall. As for its price?? Get ready for an investment…..
Last but not least, the house has launched a shoe collection which includes not only classic pumps but also boots, sneakers, sandals and espadrilles. What I can say for sure is that comfort outperforms compared to many other luxury brands and it worth to give a try. Before I leave, I didn’t miss out to smell the new perfumes. I am quite picky regarding perfumes, but these scents can truly match different occasions and personalities. As for my faves, thumbs up for number II and V!
So what do you think? Next time are you going for a logo or for timeless style?? I would love to know your preference or your Bottega Veneta experience!
