16 Feb Stockholm Design Week 2015
Stockholm is said to be the new design destination…and I can say for sure that’s true!
Art galleries in the city, exhibitions, events and installations during design week prove it and make Stockholm the center of Nordic design. So, this third Stockholm post’ is about design week and what I have made out there!
First comes the “we live here” exhibition. A real house hosted a collection of contemporary objects – both known ones and new launches from Finland and Iceland mixed with Swedish design representing the living way in Nordic region today!
An interesting exhibition was the Beacon Helsinki one at the Finnish Institute. New works by a group of young designers from Finland, including Motto Wasabi, Timo Rippatti, Mikke Laakkonen and Sebastian Jansson, were presented.
Innermost is a Swedish company that designs and manufactures fronts, handles, legs, sides and tops that fit Ikea’s most common cabinets. Their impressive showroom participated in the design week.
The exhibition Subjectivities – a collaboration with the architecture and design podcast Summit that contained a highly personal and subjective selection – in Stockholm National Museum coincided with Design Week. See exhibition’s highlights here:
More Nordic design comes soon….stay tuned!
