09 Sep Tommy Hilfiger changes the rules
How many changes do you expect from a brand in one season?? Tommy Hilfiger did them all!
It’s Fall 2016 and the NYFW has already started. Today the runway show of the all time classic american brand Tommy Hilfiger will take place in “Tommy Pier”, an exhibition space inspired by the flea markets of seaports. This is the first time that the brand will present a fashion show with a collection for the current season Fall/Winter ’16 named #TommyNow which features also the awaited #TommyXGiGi collection. Both of them will be available in stores from tomorrow following the logic “See Now, Have Now”. The brand taking into account the social media era and focusing in young generation, collaborated with it-girl Gigi Hadid not only as the face of its campaign but she participated also in the design process. Contemporary nautical style – stripes, boats, knots – highlights the perfect daily wear. The two tone bucket bag was one of my favorite pieces!!
Tommy Hilfiger F/W’16 collection is also all about the sea but in a “nostalgic” way as old days in New York when people travel Atlantic in huge ships. Retro dresses with embroidered details, motifs and florals, which are used for the first time in the history of the brand, stirred my interest. Not to mention that the shoes were love at first sight…..
Suits are introduced in the men’s collection with campaign face tennis championship Rafael Nadal, while jeans and accessories remain staples of the brand! Mini sailors’ collection is also there.
“Nostalgia” seems to be the main trend now for many fashion houses such as Gucci with Alessandro Michele collections or Armani with the new Alitalia uniforms’ collection. It remains to see how the fashion revolves in the 21st century. For more fashion news stay tuned!
